Negative scanning and digitising is our most popular service. With high quality edited images and low prices we offer one of the most competetive services in the UK. The scans can be provided as jpeg, our usual format, or tif, commonly used for professional purposes. We primarily use our Nikon equipment for these scans providing excellent results though we also use other scanners, depending upon the project.
Images scanned from black and white or colour negatives are usually superior to images scanned from photographs. The negative was the image the photograph was produced from and is usually superior in sharpness and contrast. The negatives are often in your photograph wallet in pristine condition as they were only revisited for reprints. With modern scanning technology they can be digitised to provide easy access and viewing. Unfortunately sometimes the negative has been damaged and cannot be used and so the photograph is the only option.
These images are individually edited to adjust colour and contrast, and to reduce the effects of artifacts using Lightroom, Photoshop and Silverfast software providing you with optimal results.
We scan 35mm and APS negatives at up to 4000 dpi. For Medium and large format negatives we scan at up to 1200 dpi, we can scan at higher resolutions by arrangement. Negative scanning is our speciality and we are proud of the results that we achieve.
